About Glass Maids

Glass Maids is a collaboration between glass artists Sue King and Delia Scales. Their shared love of all things glassy, has forged not only a friendship, (over many cups of tea) but also in designing and creating some stunning unique glass projects.

Sue King creates vibrant kiln-formed glass inspired by her love of colour, pattern and nature.

Fused glass pieces are overlaid onto a clear sheet of glass and then fired at temperatures around 815 degrees. Often each piece needs two or three firings, according to the desired finish. Sue creates colourful dishes and platters, along with sculptural pieces.

She also designs and creates window/door panels for both residential and commercial interior commissions.

Delia Scales is a stained glass artist and has built up an extensive collection of old vintage and antique glasses over many years which have become a unique feature of her work.

Old patterns which have deeper embossment and light catching properties are recycled in a variety of ways. They are used to match broken pieces in original panels or are reused in new work to create interesting textural shifts of light.

She is fascinated by the history of glass and the development of period styles and receives commissions for both private and commercial buyers.
